Brakevan and mini-digger finished, other work continues

A thick frost was a bit of a surprise first thing, but the site soon warmed up in the sunshine. With only a small team on hand, we made good progress. All the stored timber from the centre aisle of shed 83C was moved, sorted by size, and neatly stacked inside the new container opposite the track‑fixings bins. The timber has dried out well, and the container will keep it secure and weather‑proof.

After lunch, we used the new leaf blower to give Powdermill Cut platform and the access path a first clean. Preparation work continued on the Dough wagon getting it ready for painting, while work carried on fitting more cladding rails to the frame of shed 83D.

A list of outstanding tasks for completion before Easter was drafted, along with a provisional layout for the main yard on Open Days. A quick photo was also taken of the freshly finished mini‑digger, which is looking very smart. Meanwhile, the hazard lining on the ends of the brakevan was completed, leaving only a little small lettering to finish the Hudson branding. The van was brought out into the sunshine for its official photos, and it really is a stunner. Lots more still to do ready for our ahead of our re-opening at Easter.
