Chippings Laid, Baguley Checked, 83D Doors and Panels Installed

A dry—if overcast—day made a welcome change, and with a small team on site the work was divided into two focused groups.
The morning began with another four bucket loads of chippings being taken to shed 83C, allowing the levelling and track‑infill work on the new hardstanding to continue. With the vibrating plate tamper in use, the entire area was completed and compacted by the end of the day, leaving a neat, tidy surface that will now be left to settle before the self‑binding gravel is added.
Attention then turned to the Baguley, we re-assembled the drive components with new seals and gaskets and it received a detailed inspection. A couple of minor air‑brake pipework leaks were found and fixed, leaving the locomotive in much better shape.
Work on shed 83D also progressed well. The second door on the end elevation was fitted—after some persuasion involving enlarged hinge beds and a little planing, it finally seated neatly in its frame. With that milestone achieved, the team moved to the east elevation, installing the lower timber panels and window units to mirror the opposite side. By the end of the day, around two‑thirds of the wall was complete.
Meanwhile, the paperwork for the hard‑copy COSHH register was collated and organised in the office.
A productive and satisfying day, with several projects clearly moving toward completion.
