A calm, dry day meant outdoor work could continue without interruption.
The morning began with moving the 18‑inch‑gauge bogies off the old tramplates and relocating them to the storage area, ready for collection later in the week. At the same time, the generator received a much‑needed refill—150 litres of diesel after running worryingly low.
Work on the Baguley took up most of the day for two team members, who battled cramped conditions to track down a hydraulic oil leak. After a determined effort, the key components were finally dismantled, cleaned and prepared for reassembly later in the week.
Progress on shed 83D continued steadily. A blank wall panel was installed on the west side to establish the corner reference for the end cladding. A timber sole plate was fitted across the building, and the two door frames were roughly positioned before the cold prompted an early lunch.
With an extra pair of hands joining in afterwards, a timber head rail was fixed across the metal cross brace, and the door frames plus the central glazed panel were secured properly. The end elevation is now clearly taking shape—very satisfying, especially given the sceptical looks when the initial layout began.
Meanwhile, workshop tasks continued, including refurbishment of the rescued track clips. A productive and well‑paced day with visible progress on several fronts.
