A very mixed day on site today with dry spells, a patch of sunshine, and some meaningful showers interspersed. Enough people were on site to allow progress on a number of tasks, both outside and in the workshops, depending on the weather at the time.
Two team members finished painting the 83D shed siderails and then moved into 83A to paint the new windbraces being made. Two others sourced suitable steel angle for the windbraces from the edge of the P‑Way yard and moved it back to the workshop. The team then marked up the steel for length, trimming and bolt holes before cutting it with the plasma cutter and drilling the required holes on the workshop pillar drill.
Another team member began cleaning down the buffer stop unit in 83A, while someone else finished the grey undercoating of the compressor unit for the static wagon display.
After lunch, two people began dismantling the corner of the Dough wagon where the timber upright had rotted. Most bolts and screws came free, though one resisted until finally persuaded to release. Another team member began work on the superstructure frame for the Wickham trolley and temporarily positioned the central seat frames.
Projects all continued to move forward thanks to the ongoing hard work of the team on site.
