Mixed day with progress on the Wickham, Sea Mine and Dough Wagon

26 04 15

A bit of a mixed day on site with the weather — warm but overcast, with a couple of brief showers drifting through. Work settled into a steady rhythm once everyone arrived, with jobs spreading out across the site as the morning went on.

The water bowser was taken down to the far end of the site for a full refill so there’s plenty ready for Saturday. Elsewhere, the sea mine began to receive a thorough clean and its first undercoat to get it better now it is on display, while steady progress continued on the Wickham trolley.

After lunch, restoration work picked up again on the dough wagon, and another team pressed on with mounting the upper cladding panels on the west side of shed 83D. Four more panels went up, leaving only a couple of feet left to finish, approaching a very satisfying milestone. Lighting installation work also continued in the new container, adding another tick to the long list of ongoing improvements.

By the end of the day a surprising amount had been achieved, even if the workload wasn’t quite what had been planned. It was one of those days where everyone quietly chipped away at their tasks, and the site felt all the better for it.
