A fine day on site, with everyone managing to arrive by 9.30am as required. There were no trains scheduled today so instead the morning was spent washing the locos and rolling stock in shed 83A to clear away the last of the dust and muck. It turned into a full hand‑wash and valet, and everything is now sparkling clean.
After the regular team meeting at lunchtime, the afternoon shifted to groundwork. A small group infilled a redundant inspection chamber at the edge of the road outside ARS2, which will let us lay an unobstructed gravel apron outside the building. An old roadside signboard just south of the yard also came down it wasn’t not much to look at, but some of the materials may yet be useful.
To round things off, Gilbert and the manrider were taken out for a run down to the Long Walk loop and back for a track inspection. A productive and satisfying day all round.
Finally got clearance to leave site at 4.30pm, so a long but ultimately fruitful day with full input by all on site.
