Clearing and prep work, plus further restorations.

A strong team on site today meant we could push ahead with several jobs. The remaining 18‑inch gauge rail panels were moved from the south end of the line back to the PW Yard, clearing the former blue‑coach area for future use. Further clearing was also done at the south end of the yard to ensure full access for the lorry delivering the new storage container next Wednesday.

The dough‑wagon woodwork was fully rubbed down, so it’s now ready for re‑assembly. Work continued on the Trecwn brakevan graphics, including lettering on the far side, small stencilling above the solebars, and the name and wasp stripes on one end – once complete the Trecwn breakvan will be fully restored to its original, in service appearance, we think, uniquely in the UK.

Additional diesel‑locomotive training took place, focusing on the Gilbert and including a run up the line with the man‑rider. The ballast wagon was filled twice and top‑ballasting continued on the main line near point set no. 4.

After the monthly team meeting, the location of the new concrete slab for the relocated site diesel tank was marked out and taped off. Meanwhile, repairs began on several hand power tools that had failed their recent PAT tests.
