The 2026 season opened with a full team on site and, as tradition demands, the first task of the year was completing all mandatory safety formalities. Everyone worked through the annual trackside briefing, the new Personal Track Safety meeting, the Rules and Regulations refresher, and the medical declarations for those who need them. With pens put to good use and the paperwork out of the way, attention could finally return to practical work.
The site machine was started up and used to move four more bucket loads of chippings from the upper yard to the area beside one of the sheds. The team then spread the material to form the sub‑base for the self‑binding gravel surface, with the first layer consolidated using the vibrating plate. More fill and levelling will follow, but the groundwork is now underway.
Work also continued on the trolley, with further cutting and fitting of the timber floor planks, while the workshop saw the start of a fresh round of maintenance and repair tasks.
A productive first day back, with safety signed off and the year’s projects already moving forward.
