It was a mixed day on site, cooler and slightly overcast in the morning but with heat and humidity creeping back in by the afternoon. Only a core team was present, yet several projects made good progress. The fuel tank on Tinkabell was resealed, replaced, and refilled, bringing the locomotive back into operational condition. Work also began on installing lighting in the new stores container, improving visibility for future tasks.
Painting continued on the internal walls of the Museum building, adding another layer of paint and further brightness. The chassis rails, hornblocks, springs, and tiebars of the Dough wagon received their black topcoat, meaning it can be dropped back onto its wheels on Saturday marking a significant milestone in its restoration.
The Hunslet Chris H pulled the manrider down the line to check track alignment before passenger trains for a School visit can run tomorrow. The extensive remedial realignment work completed on Saturday proved successful, and the track is now smooth at that point, making the effort worthwhile.
Both end panels for the next Bishopton wagon B10 that is being restored received an undercoat, and the chassis itself for the wagon was moved from the store 83E to the main carriage and wagon workshop 83A, then positioned beside the end panels so the team can decide how best to fit everything back together.
Much was achieved across the site, and everyone left satisfied after another productive day contributing to the ongoing restoration and development of the railway.
