Slightly cold, grey and dull on site today, but it didn’t put the brakes on anyone’s enthusiasm. The morning quickly settled into a rhythm. A determined crew got stuck into clearing the rubble, rubbish and brambles beside ARS2, filling several JCB buckets in the process and making a real dent in the mess. Nearby, the repainting of the three ARS2 signs continued with steady, careful progress. Out on the line, Baugley as a light engine headed off for a full track inspection before returning to collect the train. Three trains ran in total, carrying lots of passengers between them. The only downside was a new dripping leak from the Baugley’s gearbox one to monitor closely, with a repair likely on the horizon.
After lunch, most of the team returned to the ARS2 area to keep the momentum going, while the JCB was put to work again to lift all the metal beams from the car park up onto the store roof. The difference was immediate: far more parking space and a much tidier area overall.
In the workshop, repairs were underway on tools damaged by the recent roof leak. Most are now back in service and stored safely in the generator room, though three were beyond saving and went straight into the skip.
By the end of the day the whole site looked noticeably clearer and more organised. A busy, productive day with happy passengers, solid progress and a real team effort throughout.
