Steady Progress Across the Railway Site

Across several overcast, windy, and occasionally rainy days, a small but determined team pushed ahead with a wide range of essential tasks. Despite cancelled train operations and challenging weather, outdoor work continued at pace. Line inspections were carried out, fallen trees dealt with, and painting and restoration work progressed on multiple items including the compressor unit, bufferstop, Dough Wagon components, and the Mars boiler. Structural work on shed 83D also moved forward, with the final side rail lifted into place, holes redrilled where needed, and preparations made for fitting additional cross rails. Heavy lifting was supported by site machinery, allowing steel sections to be cut, moved, and primed for future installation.
Elsewhere, workshop and site improvements continued steadily. A major correction began in shed 83C, where unsuitable flooring laid by a contractor is now being replaced with a reinforced concrete finish. Wagons were repositioned to support this work, and various mechanical units were repaired or serviced. Additional tasks — from cleaning and organising facilities to preparing timber components and advancing trolley restoration projects — ensured that progress was made across the board. Although none of the jobs were individually dramatic, together they represented a highly productive period with many important steps completed before winter projects begin.
