Shunting completed, wagons covered, site prepared for contractors.

rolling stock moves

A warm day with a light breeze and a few drops of rain at lunchtime. Numbers on site were slightly reduced, but several jobs needed completing ahead of the contractor beginning work in and around shed 83C next Monday.
Two team members put 70 litres of diesel into the generator while two others planned the most efficient way to shunt all the vehicles around the yard. Another team member continued work on the Wickham trolley project.
The group then moved the four unrefurbished wagon chassis out of shed 83E onto the turntable road in the main yard. Four of the Cordite train wagons were taken out of 83C and placed into 83E to keep them dry and secure during the works. The cordite rack van was too tall for 83E, so it was squeezed into shed 83A, while the Road Rail wagon was moved into workshop 83B.
After that, the four Trecwn wagons were hauled out of 83C and positioned up to the fouling mark in front of shed 83A, safely clear of the building works and not obstructing passenger train movements. As they will be outside for the next couple of weeks, they were carefully wrapped in new tarpaulins kindly provided for the railway. Existing tarpaulins were then used to cover the four wagons positioned on the turntable road. Everything just about fitted back into the sheds.
There was just enough time afterwards to agree the locations of the remaining holes to be drilled for the shed 83D frame. Another team member continued with the motorised trolley project. Everything is now ready for the building works to begin.
