New container arrives, more painting; restoration of the dough wagon.

We pushed on with our tasks, especially with a full Wednesday team on site. The main event of the day was the delivery of the 40‑ft container that will serve as a secure store for timber and the more valuable trackwork fittings, allowing us to finally clear these out of ARS2. The container arrived early and had already been offloaded by the time we reached the site.

Work continued on the Dough wagon, with the main challenge being to source suitable replacement bolts for those too deteriorated to reuse. Painting of the mini‑digger progressed steadily, while the dry weather allowed further undercoating of the external panels on shed 83D.

The scaffold tower was moved into position and the timber purlin joiners were fitted as required. The dumper truck was relocated first thing to give the container lorry room to manoeuvre, followed by moving haylage for the deer with the JCB and tightening the slipping alternator belt on the generator.

Restoration of the lettering was completed on the east side of the passenger brakevan, along with the stencilling and wasp‑stripe layout on both ends and the far side, leaving everything ready for final painting. Repairs also continued on workshop equipment that had failed its recent PAT test.

We also had a visit from the Royal Gunpowder Mills CEO to discuss the final positioning and interpretation boards for the display stock in shed 83C – the new Museum display area.

Despite being cool and a bit misty it was a busy and productive day all round for everyone on site
